There will be lots of sowing going on over the next month, so I’m starting today with some of my salad crops and of course, MORE DWARF GREEN BEANS. I’m determined to get some beans.
If you don’t know the bean story, let me explain. I showed mine nice and early in the greenhouse hoping that by the end of May they’d be decent sized plants to get planted out into the garden. Come July they’d be starting to produce beans. We’ll great plan… but the beans didn’t join in. Only one germinated. ONE!
So in May, I sowed more. Guess how many germinated? Yup… one. Now I have two, which I planted in the raised bed. And something ate one of them.
Sigh, so in mid-June, I direct sowed some into the bed in the garden. It took a few weeks longer than usual but two germinated. After all that… I had 3 plants, so I gave in and bought some. Now though I’m sowing some more. Fingers crossed.
I’m also sowing some salad goodies, including something new, land cress. Not something we’ve ever grown so fingers crossed.
