Been a bit exciting this week as well as a wee bit nervous. We’ve been having some lovely weather and things in Scotland are starting to open up again, so yesterday we had a fun day out in Edinburgh.

Luckily I’d managed to get this week’s video update for the garden recorded and edited in plenty of time. So when it went live, Kate and I were able to be off having a fun day relaxing and having lunch in Edinburgh.

We had booked to go on a course to learn about BBQ (was a Christmas present) but the infection rates in Scotland had climbed again so we didn’t manage to go. But with things evening out again, we were all booked for yesterday.

We were headed to an awesome, tiny little food joint called The Smiddy which is in Cannonmills in Edinburgh. They are one of those places you see popping up on your Instagram feed all the time making you drool.

So we were quite excited, but also quite nervous as this would be our first time heading out into Edinburgh or bring amongst other people in a very long time. Unfortunately things didn’t go to plan as the place we were meant to be doing the course in got a burst pipe and have had to postpone but we just took the day to have some chill time in Edinburgh instead and then went back to The Smiddy for lunch. So we got a day off from gardening while you guys caught up with our weekly update 😄

There were some plants though, there are some really well known entrances to townhouses in Edinburgh that we saw. This one in particular was really fun with its quirky succulent displays.

and then we headed back for a stunning lunch of slow cooked brisket, burnt ends and the trimmings with a wee beer. Absolutely mouth watering.

So we’re hoping to get back and do the course next week… can’t wait.

So what was in this week’s video update? Well it was a packed one. We had a chat about the spring bulbs and how to treat them so you get repeat displays, we checked in on the garlic, we also chatted about watering and feeding because you guys have had a lot of questions recently and…. there’s a wee tutorial at the end all about making plant supports… did I mention it’s also full of sunshine?
